Death, Taxes & The Big OZ

Well as they turned for home, two clear Kings emerged from the pack in Spring 09, Bart with his two Major wins and The Big Ozzie Punter with his two Famous wins in the Plate and the Derby.

The Melbourne Cup, Australia's biggest race was there to split these two titans, Bart had loaded up with his three challengers, more fancied in the market, the Oz pulled a swifty and decided that he needed to go in with two, one more than generally required to get the job done. But it must be said with much less fancied horses, his Spring resting on maligned gallopers in Shocking and Daffodil, both double figures in the market.

And as they turned for home.... Roman Emperor grabbed the lead, Allez Wonder hadn't spent a penny and Viewed was moving into it from midfield. Again it looked destined to be Bart, as at a similar stage the Big Oz was under enormous pressure. Shocking had been racing three deep the entire race with no cover, on a day when the wind was having a big effect, and Daffodil while smoking it's pipe, had on onerous task on a slow speed with much rump between it and a passage for victory.

300m to go now, Shocking was somehow still thereabouts for the Oz, but Daffodil struck massive trouble almost falling when looking for a run, Oz was down to one, Bart's challenge by this time was there but not looking as ominous as most expected. And as is always the case a few new challengers were emerging, bookies too begun to take notice. Corey Brown hits the clocktower and counts to 10 on Shocking, for the Oz and his band of followers, Crime Scene his inside still travelling, new competition begun to believe that we finally had you now, bookies for the first time are seeing daylight.

It's now or never, Shocking gives it for one last surge.... and he....breaks away...the superstar horse delivers a most fantastic win.... And so yet again does The Big Oz and his band of merry members! Boom Boom Boom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cox Plate winner at 14-1, yeah not bad, Derby Winner $8.50-$5's, yeah fair enough but that double could be done, surely not the Cup winner, yep and the Cup Winner, $38's ($26's prepost- $11's) with Shocking.

Hope you enjoyed your Spring Carnival, thanks to those for coming on and being apart of it. Now for the Summer Carnival....

Our Lona & King Pulse kill it for Members on Caulfield Guineas Day

The blitz Tim McDonnell put together for members for Caulfield Guineas day began with a barrage of emails on Thursday urging members to take any Pre-post offerings for King Pulse in the first at Caulfield on Saturday. While the majority of punters were forced to take $2.50 this hot pot on the day, we all cashed in on the $10-1, $7-1, $5-1 that was freely available with the Tab and Corporates. King Pulse rated the highest horse for us in the last six weeks, so we all won plenty. The day got even better, 5 of the 9 Winners were provided on top including. King Pulse, Maxisun, Avenue, Whobegotyou and Our Lona. King Pulse was a best bet for the day, So You think a suggested Investment (the best run of the day) and Our Lona our next best. Our Lona won the last race of the day paying $37.50 best tote! You can review our report below, and note we found Allez Wonder ($45.00) as well, Allez Wonder and Our Lona were the keys to a Quaddie that paid $97,000 and a Straight Six that paid $1.7 Million.

Members cash in on Brisbane Lions Season

Betting has stopped on the Final 8 for the Brisbane Lions as they are home and hosed, much to the chargrin of Tim McDonnell & Members.

Here is what Tim wrote to Full & AFL Members at the beginning of the Season, declaring that the Brisbane Lions making the final eight was the best AFL Investment for the year.

Best Season Bet: Brisbane Lions to make Top 8 @ $2.25

Those that have read my preview, will note that I placed them fourth this year and at the current odds of $2.25 it's time to invest. I will further detail why?

As a punter I look for class or teams on the verge of that class factor, the value is always in betting on a team that you will think will improve and I see a classy team in the Brisbane Lions with the right ingredients to improve

BANG THE BIG OZ DOES IT AGAIN!

Leica Larrikin gives members another day out!

Here is what Members where emailed Friday 3/7/09, Results in Yellow Bold below.

3 Investments this Weekend.

Sydney Rosehill 12pm Doubtful Jack, Race 1 no 1, Suggested Bet, 8.2, Top Fluc. More Win/Place

Brilliant winner on debut. Loved the professional nature of his first 600m and then he's will to race away up the straight. The key to his performance was that he was still hitting his top as he was hitting the line, that's the sign of a very good horse. Especially when he can do it first time out against proven City horses. This is not hard at all this race in Sydney, and the barrier won't pose to many problems. There is one or two who go forward and him, so he should be able to just slide across at his leisure. He came a best bet rating, but I have shaved a half because of the interstate trip first time. In saying that he looks the type that will handle anything. Breeding and his first win suggests he will handle a track that's not paradise. Let's hope its not to bad.

RESULT 6th - Poor Ride Loss

Flemington:

Rose Syrah, Race 3 no 4, Suggested Bet, 8.2, Top Fluc, Eachway

Did the job for us last time, and looks to get a really good run from the barrier here. I think she's got that aspect on her side when comparing it to her main opposition which I believe will be Cut and Run if the track is not too rain affected, she will be very hard to beat. The big tracks really suit her and what I like about her is that she can use her big stride on wet or dry ground. Flemington plays pretty well even if on wet ground. This race really shapes for her, and I think she is an excellent eachway investment. If the track is dry dead 4/5 or better, I will be definitely having something on Cut and Run as well. Monster performance last start, but looking through all her runs she is very capable of that and more.

RESULT 1st - $8.00 Top Fluctuation - Won by near three lengths.

Leica Larrikin, Race 4 no 11, Suggested Bet, 8.1, Top Fluc, Eachway.

Full brother to Leica Falcon who cops a really average set of 3yos at Flemington 1600m. Looks not too disimilar at all to Leica Falcon and he didn't break through until he reached a mile first time. That is the prospect that faces Leica Larrikin here. Good runs over a 1000m in and around the Wagga area they have taken there time with him. In his last run he started well and jogged along like a horse looking for further, he was 7 and 8 deep around that tight turn at Echuca which cost him lengths. But he looked really good at times in the straight. Couple of things in his favour here, Flemington will definitely suit him, there's actually nice speed in this race, and bar one horse who I suggest we should save on they are a bunch of b-grade donkeys. Red Hustler is the one I think we should save on around the $7 mark, he is clear second best. I'm hoping he brings us into the race from the back.

RESULT 1st - Top Fluctuation $41, Best Tote Dividend $47, Best Betfair Dividend $85.

Giving Members a Weekly Return of Investment 811% (Based on $41 mark for Leica Larrikin, and $8 mark Rose Syrah) . The Running Double of Rose Syrah and Leica Larrikin paid $381 for those Intelligent Punters who get on the punt that way. You can view below what this meant in dollar terms for Members who invest on our Recommendations and follow our Guide given their preferred level of invesment. For some of our bigger clients who have put aside $20,000 to invest they achieved a conservative return of $25,600 just for last week.

Recent Performance Review's

Sept/Oct - In progress

Aug - Annual Leave

June/July - 337% Profit on Turnover. Excellent month it paid to be cautious and patient this month, 5/12 Investments were winners at a Profit on Turnover figure of 337%. In other words $3.37 for every dollar invested win/lose or draw. Rose Syrah was very handy to us, Denman, Pacino and a few others but this period was all about one horse...Leica Larrikin.

May/June - 10% Profit on Turnover. Huge start to the month with Phaze Action winning the Andrew Ramsden for us at double figure odds. Shocking paying off for sticking thick with it, again I was first on to this horse, and Midnight Mustang who paid near $8 dollars. And was probably a touch better than 10% overall as well. In two of the three weeks down on investment, Queen Oedipus was suggested which rescued one week, and suggesting to tak Bangerang Quickpic one out in the Quadrella which I tipped rescued the Rightfully Yours week.

Football Membership - Brilliant start to the year. Operating around 35-40% profit from the first 11 Rounds. If you have had a play I hope its been rewarding for you. And most importantly we are looking really good with our top 8 bet of Brisbane for those that followed my Season Best Bet there at the Odds of $2.20. The Lions won a crucial match today over Hawthorn to go into the break 7-5 and sit currently fourth. Merrett, Patfull, Drummond and Charman are due back very shortly so we're looking really good.

April/May - 30% loss on Turnover. Bad month, first losing month in nine. In terms of total revenue lost it wasn't that bad as it only consisted of three weekends. But no month losing is a good month. We lacked a lot of luck, stick with it it will turn for us.

March /April 2009 - 6% Profit on Turnover, Heart of Dreams and Typhoon Tracy where very good to us in the first week. First Command kept us ticking over in the second week. Ampho Power at Ballarat a best bet in the third week, arguably should have won with a poor ride and could have made all the difference in a week where it was hard to play on that glue-pot at Rosehill. And the week just gone was a very big one. Winners included Hume, Ortensia, and First Command on the Saturday then to round the month off we struck big time with Elumino at Sandown Lakeside last Wednesday at odds of $7.90.

February/March 2009 - 40% Profit on Turnover, again two big weeks to finish the month after treading water early with too many hard luck stories to list. Fairy Gem placing at $6 and Maka Ena placing in the Diamond at $11 the place kept us in in the game. Once the rot stopped we won easily for the month best bet winners Champagne Harmony and Common Interest were great. Wins also out of Typhoon Tracey twice and Heart of Dreams both on the day and Pre-post. I told members to back him six weeks before the Cadbury Guineas and that paid massive dividends. Members were able to get as much as 19-1. The 40% you read doesn't include this bet so you can just imagine how much we are in front.

Januar/February 2009 - 20% Profit on Turnover, Big last two weeks after a solid start. Marchelle Belle, and Nine Tales were both best bets. Other winners for the month included Over Exposed, Mic Mac, Lord Monty, Ampho Power, Largo Lad, and a nice place return on Rapid Sensation.

December 2008 – 30% Profit on Turnover, rough start but three big weeks to finish the year with the best saved till last with Just Look winning the Lord Stakes with a leg in the air (we also got the quaddie in one, fair to say that's one intelligent punter). Statistically it might have only been a 30% profit month, which is great any event, but the Boxing Day results with Just Look and Mic Mac winning made for a very big Christmas.

November 2008 – 50% Profit on Turnover (actually it was about 250%), four winning weeks in a row. No big heads after the Rocha win at $58, went back to work and produced a big month winning every week. L'amis Louis, Caymans, Bernicia amongst other horses were great results.

October 2008 -  40% Profit on Turnover  Just in front on best bets, but sizzling returns on suggested bets though The Tiger in the Geelong Derby, Instructor first up and Sarem first time in town saw us finish with a profit.

We got the 2008 Melbourne Cup Trifecta - It Paid $22,000

Hope you had a winning Melbourne Cup Day, our tips for members and those who purchased our Cups Guide were privy to the 2008 Trifecta. These were our final thoughts for each runner of the 2008 Melbourne Cup.

Viewed

" Warming to this one not much luck in the Caulfield Cup were he ran home hard, didn’t look outclassed at all. Best local hope in my opinion. Comes right into it if there is any rain being out of Scenic and going on his Brisbane Cup win. Believe this horse can still perform on good ground as well so keep that in mind. With the speed on it’s really going to suit him as well, great tip. "

Bauer

"Regarded as a bit of plugger in the Uk, a horse who stays very well, races truly in the run but lacks a killer sprint. A trip to the Big Brown Land might have sparked him up a bit, because when he was required to sprint in the 2008 Geelong Cup he delivered. I’ve got a feeling the good tracks spark him up a little. Definitely like him if the track is good or non-affected dead. "

Ce Lest Guerre

I rated Ce Lest Guerre from the Melbourne Cup Guide that was put out in Late September in my top 1,2 picks all the way through, and was easy to place in the Melbourne Cup trifecta.
